This marble floor symbolizes the wealth of the earth in one of the largest food producing valleys in the world, the San Joaquin in California. A wreath of bounty representing food and flora grown in the region is warmed by a sun and nurtured by earthy travertine and watered by flowing lines of blue granite. This mosaic floor is located in the heart of a government and retail center and is at the “Grand Entrance” base of a double marble stairway.

This granite floor is comprised of six pattern stripes representing a cultural history of the area: Yokut Indian basket weave, Pre-Columbian pattern, Art Deco design form the 1920’s hotel previously on the site, Italian for European pattern, Cambodian scarf pattern.
The colorful patterns unify into a rough and satin granite inside a diamond that represents individual cultures unified into a community while maintaining their individual art forms.
